The Foundations History

Established in 2004, as the Galesburg Community and Health Foundation, and on September 1, 2007, we became the Galesburg Community Foundation. Galesburg Community Foundation is a collection of funds and resources given by local citizens and organizations to enhance and support the quality of life within a 30-mile radius of Galesburg.

  • A tax-exempt public charity that allows individuals, businesses, and other non-profit organizations to establish permanent and temporary funds within the confines of one large foundation

  • Foundation funds are used to provide grants to non-profit organizations and scholarships to area students

  • The Galesburg Community Foundation serves the Greater Galesburg Area including all communities within a 30-mile radius of Galesburg in the State of Illinois

  • In addition, GCF is associated with three local entities and their proceeds go toward the funding of grants to non-profit organizations and health career scholarships. The three entities are: Cottage Corner resale store in downtown Galesburg, Cottage Gift Shop at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and Lifeline Services - a personal emergency response system.
