Grant Funding

The Foundation invites inquires and applications for grants that benefit the communities and residents in the greater Knox County area. The Galesburg Community Foundation primarily serves Knox County.  However the Fountain has granted and does receive support from outside the borders of Knox County. 

 

In 2009 the Galesburg Community Foundation refined its mission to develop and support the efforts of local people and organizations to foster and promote a healthy community.  The foundation has defined a healthy community as one that focuses its efforts on productive dialogue, collaborative action, team building and unity of purpose. Residents of such communities bond in the common benefits of a strong education system; abundant physical activity opportunities; adequate, affordable, and effective health care; and access to the arts.
 
Competitive Grantmaking
A competitive grant process occurs annually. Grant proposals are reviewed by GCF staff with final selections to be made by a committee of the GCF Board.

 

Discretionary Small Grants
At the discretion of the Executive Director, small grants of $500 or less may be awarded for purposes of fostering a healthy community.
