GCF serves two essential segments in the make-up of our community: local charities working to improve the quality of life for our community and donors who generously give financial contributions to support the causes they care about.
Our Mission:
The Galesburg Community Foundation develops and supports the efforts of local people and organizations to foster and promote a healthy community. The Foundation supports the community by:
- Stimulating and facilitating the spirit of philanthropy
- Being accountable and prudent managers of donor funds
- Making responsive and informed grants
- Investing resources to address community priorities and interests
What is a Healthy Community?
A healthy community focuses its efforts on productive dialogue, collaborative action, team building and unity of purpose. Residents of such communities bond in the common benefits of a strong education system; abundant physical activity opportunities; adequate, affordable and effective healthcare; and access to the arts.
